Hooton Park Bag Filter Fabrication
Delivering the Largest Bag Filter in the WPE–Lodge Cottrell Partnership
Westbury Park Engineering has partnered with Lodge Cottrell for many years, supporting major environmental and energy‑from‑waste projects across the UK. In 2020, this collaboration reached a new milestone with the fabrication of the largest bag filter system produced in the partnership to date.
Located at the Hooton Park energy‑from‑waste facility in Liverpool, the installation supports a plant designed to convert approximately 240,000 tonnes of waste into energy annually, contributing to the region’s sustainable power generation.
Our Scope of Work
WPE delivered the complete fabrication package, including:
- Bag filter main structure — full assembly of the primary filtration units
- Pipework and ducting — all associated connections and flow systems
- Support steelwork — structural framework designed for long‑term stability and precision
The combined fabrication totalled 295 tonnes, reflecting the scale and complexity of the project.
Precision Engineering Through Master Jigs
To ensure flawless on‑site assembly, all major fabric filter units and duct sections were constructed on precision master jigs. This approach guaranteed:
- Perfect flange alignment
- Consistent dimensional accuracy
- Smooth installation sequencing
- Reduced on‑site adjustment time
This level of control is central to WPE’s reputation for delivering high‑integrity heavy fabrication for critical infrastructure.
